For the past 23 years, Breguet has focused on the perpetual calendar complication, one of the most challenging complications in haute horlogerie.
This year, Breguet introduces the new Récital 21, featuring a sapphire crystal dial available in three captivating shades: green, blue, and brown. This dial gives the Récital 21 a distinct character—stylish, modern, comfortable…and slightly mysterious. Through the dial, you can glimpse the intricate workings of this high-end manual-winding movement.
Designed for Enhanced Readability
Every Breguet watch is designed to display essential information in the most legible way. The hour and minute hands of the Récital 21 are positioned in the center of the dial, leaving more space for the perpetual calendar information at the dial's edge.
The sapphire crystal dial, with its tinted and lightly smoked finish, subtly reveals the intricate mechanical structure that drives the watch. The day and month displays are clearly visible, as are the gears, racks, and wheels that work together to power the timepiece.
In addition to the date indicated by a retrograde hand (which rotates around the hours and minutes), the disc displays the date and month in vertical windows at 12 and 6 o'clock, while the leap year cycle is displayed in a circular window at 3 o'clock.
The new sapphire crystal dial offers a clear view of the perpetual calendar's workings, allowing you to see its intricacies without distracting from this complex function—displaying only the information you need. To enhance the visual impact, Breguet's watchmakers developed a mechanism that slows the date hand's movement when it retrogrades, a dramatic effect most pronounced when the last day of each month becomes the first. Turning the watch over the movement reveals the patented double coaxial seconds mechanism and the power reserve indicator. When fully wound, a single mainspring barrel provides up to five days of power reserve. All components are meticulously hand-finished to optimize the power reserve. Furthermore, the watch features an in-house developed balance spring and regulating mechanism, all designed and manufactured in-house by the Breguet workshops.
One driving force drives everything
To further enhance ease of use for collectors, Mr. Lafite and the brand's technicians designed a clever system that simplifies the adjustment of all indicators. Of course, the date, day, and month functions each have dedicated correctors; pressing the date corrector adjusts all other indicators with each press.
Therefore, if your watch needs time adjustment after stopping for a few days, simply press this unique correction button until the correct date is displayed. All other functions of the perpetual calendar (day of the week, month, leap year) are also synchronized simultaneously.
