"TopoMap" README
================
(1) There are some prepared examples ("IMS_TopoMap*.ini") to stitch maps
from the TopoMap cache. After opening one of them, you have to select
the corresponding TopoMap cache folder. Default folder in TopoMap is
    "C:\TopoMap1.2\<MapName>", where <MapName> is the map (e.g. France_Mainland).
(2) If you deleted the TopoMap cache files, you are lost. OziMapTrans will NOT
process the merged maps or download any tiles.
(3) Most lilely you do not have downloaded all map tiles. Since the supplied
example files cover the complete map area, you should use the button
"Detect empty tiles" in OziMapTrans to trim the map area.
For some maps the prepared map area might be wrong (many empty tiles
around the map borders), since I just made some guess about the tile
number range. "Detect empty tiles" should eliminate them.
(4) Spain islands (TopoMap: "Spain_Balearics" and "Spain_Canarics"):
There are some sub regions defined in the example IMS files that only
cover one of the main islands. You may find the sub regions useful as the
complete maps contain a lot of "white space".
(5) France Mainland and Corsica maps: if you use GlobalMapper to load the .map
files created by OziMapTrans, you should change the projection of the
map to "Equirectangular" with "TRUE SCALE LATITUDE" = 46.50000.
You can load the supplied projection file "GM_TopoMap_France.prj"
in GlobalMapper to make this change.
This change is necessary only for the France and Corsica maps, if you want
to keep the original view. You can also select a different projection or
datum after loading the map, e.g. projection "Lambert IV Carto (Corsica)"
and datum "NTF FRANCE (PARIS MERIDIAN)" for the Corsica maps. This is
useful if you want to display the current projection grid in GlobalMapper
(some maps or resolutions show little cross marks that indicate the grid).
(6) OziExplorer users can change the "Alternate Grid"/"Other Grid" settings and
display datum to see grid lines that correspond to the grid lines or
cross marks that are visible in the map pictures.
(7) Last note: the TopoMap tile cache may contain a lot of useless files.
You may find many very small files (file size 43 Bytes). If you do not
want to download additional tiles using TopoMap you can delete them.
